FC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has no problems with Antoine Griezmann’s statements after France’s Nations League match in Croatia (1-2 win). The French attacker said that he feels at home with ‘Les Bleus’, because he plays number ten there.
‘I can hardly compose ten numbers ten’
“Everyone can say what they want, but the coach decides and the player must perform to the maximum,” said Koeman on Friday during his press conference in the run-up to Saturday’s league game on a visit to Getafe.
Griezmann is used by Koeman as a hanging right winger at FC Barcelona. At France, he played number ten last Wednesday and also opened the score early against Croatia.
“This trainer knows where to put me”, Griezmann said after the match. He was referring to national coach Didier Deschamps.
Then Koeman talked to the 83-time international. “We talked about his position and his performance. I told him that I would choose the best solution for the team and I think for him that is a position on the right side with freedom. He’s not playing on the wing,” but he’s more on the inside. “

Griezmann appeared in the first three league matches of the season at the kick-off at Barcelona. In any case, he does not seem to have to fear for his base place.
“I have no problem with Antoine,” said Koeman. “My job is to get the best out of all the players. I can only line up eleven players and I don’t put anyone in a position where they don’t belong. But I can hardly line ten players as number ten.”
FC Barcelona will start the away game against Getafe on Saturday at 9 p.m. Koeman’s team won two of the first three games and is fifth in La Liga.
