PSV has requested the KNVB to postpone the game with ADO Den Haag from next weekend to December, but the union does not want to cooperate.
Gerbrands finds the KNVB’s refusal incomprehensible
PSV not only has a busy schedule with European obligations, but also has to contend with a number of corona infections in the selection. On Thursday, PSV played in the Europa League against Omonia Nicosia and next Thursday an away game against PAOK is scheduled in that same tournament.
“Yesterday in Cyprus we only had one fielder on the reserve bench”, PSV general manager Toon Gerbrands told the WE. Eight players from the Brabant club were unable to take action due to a corona infection.
Earlier this season, the game between FC Utrecht and AZ was moved to the end of December due to European obligations of the Almaarders. “If European interests are high, you can submit a request,” Gerbrands says.

“We have to go to Greece next week, that’s why we looked at a different date for the match with ADO. December is still free, but the KNVB turned it down. Incomprehensible.”
“The KNVB said we should have submitted the request in August,” the director explained the rejection. “The association has good control of the rules, but does not think along in the interest of professional football.”
PSV-ADO starts on Sunday at 4.45 p.m.
