Davy Klaassen has enjoyed his return to Ajax’s shirt. The midfielder had a pleasant return on Sunday by contributing to a 5-1 victory over sc Heerenveen with a goal.

“It’s nice to be back. It makes me happy that we won 5-1 and that I was able to score a goal”, said 27-year-old Klaassen in front of the FOX Sports camera.

“I have been walking around here for a long time, so I knew a little about how things are going here, but it is still a bit different. Every trainer has his own ideas. I think it went fine today.”

Klaassen, who was one of the two more controlling midfielders at Ajax, immediately asserted himself in his first match by coaching and directing. “That is in me and I have to”, said the sixteen-time international.

“It doesn’t matter that I’m new. It’s only going to make the team better if we all talk and that might be allowed to happen a bit more sometimes. There is certainly still growth.”

The next game of Klaassen and Ajax is Wednesday, when Liverpool comes to Amsterdam in the Champions League. Three days later, an away match against VVV-Venlo is on the program.
