Elton Kabangu trained with Willem II for the first time in three months on Monday. The 22-year-old Belgian was unable to take action after a corona infection and even ended up in hospital for some time.
Kabangu tested positive for the corona virus on July 28, a day after Willem II’s first training. The club only announced on Monday how worrisome his condition was.
“I had no symptoms at first, but then I got really sick,” said the winger on the site from Willem II. “I find it bizarre myself. I was in hospital for a long time, it was not pleasant. But I survived, I have to thank God for that.”
Kabangu received applause from his teammates on Monday morning when he returned to the training field for the first time. It is not yet known when the attacker will be fit for competition.
“I feel good, I have no problems with anything anymore. That is the most important thing. Conditionally of course I really felt that I was sick, walking up the stairs was already difficult. But as soon as I was allowed to leave the hospital, I will be back to work The intention is that I can train with the group again within two or three weeks. “
Kabangu was taken over by Willem II from FC Eindhoven in the summer of 2019. He got no further than four raids yet.
