The Finnish Championship League season 2020–2021 started in Hämeenlinna, when the local Pallokerho met Oulun Kärpät in Rinkelinmäki.

Three points traveled to Oulu when Kärpät grabbed the game command in the second round and took the match with numbers 2-4.

The 18-year-old started at the Oulu Kärppi goal Joel Blomqvist. However, the youngster’s zero crumbled as soon as HPK hit the season’s opening goal.

HPK deprived the puck in the attack area after losing the flies. Star acquisition Petri Kontiola served Jere Innalalle, which struck from the rear posts into the puck backpack.

In the middle of the opening round, the flies acknowledged. Thanks to the end pressure of the people of Oulu, the puck came Shaun Heshkan shoulder. Heshka baited Otto Karvinen, who directed the paint to the ceiling.

However, “Konna” Kontiola took HPK back to the lead only seconds later. The loose disc bounced off Blomqvist’s mattresses, and Kontiola made no mistake.

Only one goal was seen in the second installment. Based on the field events, it was no wonder that it came at the end of Hämeenlinna residents.

The flies were clearly stronger in the second 20 minutes and got their prize just before the end of the round when Ludwig Byström found in the second wave Janne Kuokkanen. A loan player from the New Jersey Devils slammed the numbers 2 to 2 on his wrist.

Kunyk and Puljujärvi

Another new acquisition of flies, Cody Kunyk, got in the third installment to chase last season’s club.

The Canadian center skillfully protected the puck with underforce and twisted the lead goal Joona Voutilainen between the legs in time 51.17.

Reached in high spirits during the training season Jesse Puljujärvi got the role of solver four minutes before the end. The flies got overwhelmed, and Kunyk found Puljujärvi with a cross feed that cannoned the goal net tight.

Fly Captain Mika Pyörälä grabbed the second entry point of the evening to a 2-4 hit and at the same time scored 200 full points in the SM League.

The flies kept their lead to the end and opened their points account.
