With an Instagram post, director James Gunn lets us know that he has hired Sylvester Stallone for The Suicide Squad.
With a post on Instagram, the director James Gunn writes that “I always love working with my friend Sylvester Stallone and our work today on The Suicide Squad was no exception”. Wait a minute … someone had said before this message that Stallone would take part in the film DC Comics? No! No official communication spoke of a collaboration the actor and that crafty James Gunn he decided to formalize it with a photo of them together and two lines of description. “Although Sly is an iconic movie star, most people have no idea how amazing she is.” wrote the director.
Sylvester Stallone has just finished filming another movie set in the world of superheroes titled Samaritan, due out in June 2021. James Gunn is an avowed fan of his and, if you remember well, he had also involved him in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 for the role of Stakar.
In The Suicide Squad – Missione Suicida will likely play a small role, given the already crowded lineup of characters that animate the story: Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), The Thinker (Peter Capaldi), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Blackguard (Pete Davidson), King Shark (Steve Agee), Weasel (Sean Gunn), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Savant (Michael Rooker), T.D.K. (Nathan Fillion), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).
The release of The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled for August 6, 2021.
