This weekend, the Circuit of the Americas is hosting the US Vintage National Championship.
Its participants include Jeff and Matt Brabham, descendants of the legendary Australian Jack Brabham, three-time world champion.
The 68-year-old Jeff, the eldest son of Black Jack, played quite successfully in the American IndyCar series in the 80s, and his 26-year-old son Matt represents the third generation of the illustrious racing dynasty. He is a two-time champion of the American-Australian Stadium Super Trucks series, a circuit racing in 600-horsepower, specially trained off-road vehicles.
But this time they are piloting special cars – Brabham BT35 of the 1971 model, created by the efforts of Sir Jack Brabham’s company almost half a century ago for the American Formula Atlantic.
“These are fast cars and I intend to attack with full force,” said Matt. “I am very happy to be competing with my father, and I know for sure that none of us will want to give up.”
