The SUVs have definitely taken the initiative, and when it comes to luxury compact models, Audi’s Q5 is unbeatable. Now he has become even better.
Before the summer lull we have the opportunity to get acquainted with another attractive model. The Q5 doesn’t need to be specifically introduced, suffice it to say that the look is in line with the new members of the first lineup, and the same is true in terms of technology.
With a length of 4.68 meters, the redesigned Q5 is now 19 millimeters longer due to the new bumpers, while the width (1.89 m) and height (1.66 m) have remained unchanged.
The first sign is the new standard LED lights, front and rear, and for the first time (optional) OLED technology is offered. The front grille has also changed, and with it the size of the intake or diffuser at the rear.
All this applies to the base model, but also to the plug-in hybrid on the one hand, and the sporty SQ5 on the other hand. There are also new colors on offer, among which the District shade of green will be especially interesting. The rim line is also new, in the size range up to 21 inches.
More luxurious interior
Inside, the dominant digital cockpit is accompanied by a 10.1-inch MMI display with the new MIB 3 multimedia. The ability to network with mobile devices is supported as expected. Customers of the Q5 can choose between three interior designs: base, interior design selection and interior S line. More pleased with the new interior design combination that uses leather upholstery, walnut wood, but also a powerful bang & Olufsen audio system with 705 W with 19 speakers (extra charge).
Only one engine (for now)
The offer starts from 40 TDI versions in Europe with a 2.0 diesel of 204 hp and 400 Nm, which combines mild hybrid technology. It has 100 km / h in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 222 km / h.
The Americans have already announced the petrol, stronger with a 2.0 TFSI engine of 265 hp and 370 Nm, and 55 TFSI e quattro in the form of a plug-in hybrid. It has the same engine, but with electric assistance it gives up to 367 hp and 500 Nm. Finally comes the SQ5 with a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine of 354 hp and 500 Nm.
The Audi Q5 starts in Germany at a price of 48,700 euros for the diesel version, while the starting model in the United States (Q5 45 TFSI) costs 43,300 USD, which is at the level of the current model. Interestingly, the hybrid performance will cost $ 51,900, which is a thousand dollars less than the previous model.
The Audi Q5 is produced at the San José Chiapa plant in Mexico, and sales are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2020, while in showrooms it is expected by the end of the year.
