Smartphone case with camera-like features.

The iPiX is a new iPhone case with camera-like features. It is compatible with iPhone 13 and 14 Pro and Pro Max models and comes with dimmable front and rear LED light strips, an optional slide-in lens module, and a wirelessly-rechargeable battery that can extend the phone’s runtime by a claimed 60%. It also includes magnets on the sides for sticking to ferromagnetic surfaces and a threaded hole for mounting on a tripod. Additionally, the iPiX has a case-mountable dongle that plugs into the iPhone’s Lightning port, and which incorporates USB, HDTV, SD, MicroSD and AC power adapter ports. It is currently the subject of an Indiegogo campaign, with a pledge of US$149 getting you one. The planned retail price is $300.

The iPiX is designed to make it easier for smartphone photographers to use their iPhones like a real camera. It weighs 150 grams (5.3 oz) and its lights are controlled via a physical button on the case, so no app is required to use it. The dimmable LED lights allow users to control the lighting intensity on both regular shots and selfies, while the optional slide-in lens module lets users cover the phone’s existing three lenses with one of four colored filters, a polarizing filter or a neutral density filter.

The included dongle allows users to transfer photos/videos back and forth between their phone and other devices; connect peripherals such as keyboards; or use a connected projector to view images stored on their phone. The dongle also allows users to extend the phone’s battery life by a claimed 60%. Finally, the case also has magnets on the sides and a threaded hole for mounting on a tripod, making it easier to take photos from different angles.

The iPiX is a great option for smartphone photographers who want to take their photography to the next level. It is currently the subject of an Indiegogo campaign, with a pledge of US$149 getting you one. The planned retail price is $300. With its dimmable LED lights, slide-in lens module, and case-mountable dongle, the iPiX is the ideal case for content creators.
