The Government of India has announced the ban on 59 apps from China that it has considered as “harmful” to the country and its population, and which include the TikTok music social network and Xiaomi applications.
These applications are blocked because “they are related to activities detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, its defense, state security and public order“, as he has assured in a statement the Indian Ministry of Information Technology.
India has made this decision after the publication of “various news” denouncing bad practices of Chinese apps for iOS and Android, such as the transmission of user data to foreign servers.
Recommendations not to block malicious applications from China have already been issued by several Indian institutions, and now the Government of India “has decided to stop allowing the use “of 59 mobile apps from the Asian giant.
Among the list of Chinese applications banned in India, the TikTok music social network, which has already exceeded 1 billion users worldwide, as well as the WeChat messaging app -the most used in China- and the Weibo social network.
Also included are SHAREit file-sharing software, the UC Browser cross-platform browser, and Applications of the technological manufacturer Xiaomi, such as that of your community Mi Community and that of video calls Mi Video Call.
