The total balance of contamination with the new coronavirus rose to 5.12 million, according to the government. Authorities also recorded 1,132 deaths due to covid-19, and the total death toll rose to 83,198.

At least 1,000 deaths have been reported daily in India in the past two weeks. India is the second most affected country in the world by the pandemic, after the United States.

Russia will provide India with 100 million doses of its vaccine against COVID-19, Sputnik V, following the conclusion of an agreement between the Russian Direct Investment Fund (IDF) and the Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy’s, EFE reported on Wednesday.

Specifically, the two sides agreed to cooperate in the clinical trials of the Russian vaccine, which is in its third phase, the IDF said in a statement.

After receiving approval from the Indian Drug Regulatory Agency, FIDR agreed to provide 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The first installments could reach the end of this year, depending on the results of the tests and the registration of the vaccine by the drug regulator in India.

Earlier this month, Russia began post-vaccine testing – which took place on August 11 – and has so far recruited about 55,000 volunteers.

The first results of the third phase of clinical trials are expected to be published in October or November.
