Flight IX 1134 had 184 passengers on board, including ten children, and six crew members.
The crash took place at 19:40 local time, on the second attempt to land. Initially, the pilots abandoned the landing due to heavy rain, common in the monsoon season.
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said an investigation would be carried out.
During the monsoon season, which lasts from June to September, there were other plane crashes. A similar accident took place in July 2019, in Mangalore, but without victims.
