The state hastened digitalization in the midst of a pandemic and came up with solutions that should have been implemented a long time ago. Now you can pay your car license fee online. Better late than never.
Romania is extremely bad in terms of digitalization, but, from time to time, good news comes from this direction. The pandemic has accelerated some processes and, in order not to put citizens on the road to counters and queues, several systems have been implemented to solve some issues online.
There are still important steps to take, but the direction is good. The latest news comes from DRPCIV, which announces that it has connected its system to the platform managed by the Romanian Digitization Authority (ADR). Thus, you can now pay the fee for the online car license.
Here’s what you need to do.
How to pay your car license fee online
With this interconnection, new payments are possible on Ghiseul.ro starting today, September 25, the authorities announce. It is also possible to pay the driver’s license fee.
Also, the payments for the temporary circulation authorizations and for the registration certificate, made by the natural or legal persons, can also be paid through the virtual counter, transmits the Romanian Digitization Authority. In theory, these transactions can be performed quickly and securely, without queues or commissions
If the system happens to crash, as it did before, then things can get more complicated.
ARD announces that the number of payments that can be made through Ghiseul.ro has reached over 300. The addition of these services is the result of interconnection of computer systems of the Directorate of Driving Permits and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV) and the Autonomous Administration of State Protocol Heritage (RA -APPS).
“Accessibility is a key factor in the process of digitizing public services. Since the creation of the Romanian Digitalization Authority, over 50 new types of public services have been integrated into the www.ghiseul.ro platform, being accessible at a click away. Today, we have taken another step towards the interoperability of public institutions. But the efforts of the ADR team can only be successful if we act together. I urge you to be responsible and use these online means of payment. Protect yourself from the health risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and save valuable time. By interconnecting public institutions, we are digitizing Romania and transforming queues into clicks “, stated the vice-president of ADR, Octavian Oprea.
