US President Donald Trump has announced that he is infected with coronavirus. In a message on Twitter, he announced that his wife, Melania, also tested positive.

The president’s doctor said he was “well”, but did not say if he had any specific symptoms of the virus. Melania Trump’s condition is also good, added doctor Sean P. Conley, writes nytimes.com.

The doctor added that Donald Trump will remain isolated in the White House and that he will carry out his tasks “without interruption”.

Trump will be closely monitored by top professionals in the field, and information about his health will be made public, Conley said.

Donald Trump, 74, told Fox News’s Sean Hannity on Thursday after counselor Hicks was diagnosed with Covid-19 that he and his 50-year-old first lady had been tested for also.

Hick has traveled with the president several times lately, including Tuesday’s Cleveland debate, and was seen boarding Marine One on Wednesday, along with many other close advisers to the U.S. president – Jared Kushner, Dan Scavino and Nicholas Luna – in the conditions in which no one wore a mask.

The rules of the American Center for Disease Control say that those tested positive must inform all close contacts.

If Trump becomes too ill to lead the country, Vice President Mike Pence will take the lead. If he can’t do it either, the next on the list is the president of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi. Pence attended a coronavirus meeting with Trump on Monday.
