Several people have died, including the attacker, in a shooting with hostages in the US town of Salem (Oregon), local media reported citing police sources.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, several of their agents traveled to the scene after receiving a call alerting them of a possible situation with hostages.

These agents included an expert negotiator who tried to contact the suspect by phone, but was then they fired shots, said source explained in a statement.

“There were multiple deaths during this incident, including that of the suspect,” It was indicated in the note, which did not specify how many people died or offer more details.

The Sheriff’s Office did report that no officer was injured, adding that the Oregon State Police has been in charge of investigating the events.
