The head of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, Magda Campins, has warned that in the coming days they will be necessary “more drastic measures” to combat the second wave of infections coronavirus and he has defended that a weekend confinement – an option that the Government does not rule out – could be “effective” to reduce the contagion curve.
Campins has argued that a weekend only confinement could be “effective” since it is on the weekend “when there are more interaction“. In statements to Catalunya Ràdio collected by Efe, Campins has insisted on asking the population to reduce social interactions and limit themselves to doing only “what is essential”.
The doctor has shown skeptical regarding the effect of closing bars and restaurants on the number of infections. This Friday, when two weeks of this measure are completed, the effects of this measure should begin to be noticed in the epidemiological indicators.
He has also opined that “The last thing that should be closed is the schools”, because the “transmission” of the virus occurs especially outside the educational centers.
