(Lille – Milan 1-1) Jens Petter Hauge (21) has become well integrated in the Milan team. Against Lille, he got his first match from the start.
Hauge has had some eventful weeks with A-team debut for Norway, league gold with Bodø / Glimt and his first goal in Serie A last weekend.
On Thursday, he started for the first time for Milan. Stefano Pioli is in isolation with the corona, and in his absence it was Danielle Bonera (39) who led the team from the sidelines.
Bonera, guaranteed in dialogue with Pioli, chose to send Hauge out from the start against Lille. There, the Norwegian and his teammates got difficult working conditions from the start.
The first half was characterized by well-organized defensive play, some horrible ball misses and a limited number of chances. Hauge had a golden chance to play free a teammate in front of goal on a transfer, but missed the decisive pass.
One minute after the break, it exploded from Milan. Sandro Tonali, christened “The New Pirlo”, played through Ante Rebic, who stormed towards the goalkeeper. Unselfish and wise, he dropped the ball to Samu Catillejo, who got an easy job of sending the Italians in the lead. 1687 days after his previous Europa League goal – that time for Villarreal.
Small is no easy place to get to. The French are undefeated at home in Ligue 1, and halfway through the round they responded to charges. The hosts got knocked into the box after a throw-in, where Jonathan David nicely left the ball on the shooting range for namesake, Bamba. A hard corner kick from Gianluigi Donnarumma was not enough.
13 minutes before the end, Hauge was replaced after an approved day at work. Only two points separate Lille at the top and Sparta Prague in 3rd place in the group. Between them lies Milan. Celtic are almost hooked with just one point.
Before Thursday’s match, Hauge had made five appearances in Serie A and the Europa League, and the 21-year-old has used the chances he has had well.
Both against Celtic and Napoli, the wing has come in from the bench and scored in overtime.
