Guadalupe Porras, who served as assistant to referee Xavier Estrada Fernández in the match of the second day of the Europa League between LASK Linz and Ludogorets, became the first Spanish referee in an international men’s competition match.

Guadalupe Porras, who also shared a referee team with Roberto Alonso Fernández, the other assistant, and Jose Luis Munuera Montero, fourth official, has been international for six years and already had experience in women’s tournaments like the Champions League.

The presence of the Extremaduran in the Austrian Der Stadt Linz stadium in the match between LASK and the Bulgarian Ludogorets represents another step in her career. Guadalupe Porras promoted to Men’s First Division in 2019 and she became the first collegiate to debut in the top national category, in August of that year, at the Mallorca-Eibar meeting.

The match ended with a triumph for the Austrian team (4-3), with a brace from Husein Balic and goals from Andreas Gruber and Marko Raguz. The three goals of the Bulgarian team were from the Dutch Elvis Manu, one from a penalty committed by Lukas Grgic, who was sent off.
