Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffey believes that in four years Chase Carey was able to change Formula 1 so that the new head of the World Cup Stefano Domenicali will be easier in this position …
Greg Maffey: “I want to thank Chase Carey for his impressive accomplishments over the past four years. He changed the atmosphere of Formula 1 by creating a collaborative spirit that changed the collective worldview of the championship.
Many believed that cost reductions could not be realized, that the new regulation and the new Agreement of Consent would not be signed, but all this was done thanks to the efforts of Chase Carey. I am pleased that he will remain involved as a non-executive director.
I am delighted that Stefano Domenicali will become the new CEO of Formula 1 in January. He has a long career behind him in the world championship and his appointment was very positively received inside and outside the paddock.
Due to the pandemic, we returned to racing in early July and so far have completed 13 of the 17 scheduled stages. The great merit of Formula 1 that this became possible, we are close to achieving our goal – holding from 15 to 18 stages. Work is now underway on a calendar for the 2021 season with more races than ever before. “
