Researchers at the University of Granada are developing a portable device for early diagnosis and monitoring of COVID19. The researchers cooperated with the biochemistry and molecular parasitology group of Professor Antonio Osuna and the bioconjugation research group led by Francisco Santoyo, which belong to nanoelectronics, graphene and two-dimensional materials experiments room.

The sensor follows the bioconjugation route designed by the Santoyo team.
Very sensitive diagnostic chip
The advantage of the diagnostic chip is that it is very sensitive (it detects the presence of the analyte at a very low concentration), so in the very early stages of the disease, that is, the patient is still asymptomatic.
The device can be used not only to identify the presence of viruses, but also to understand the stage of the disease, that is, whether we are in the initial stage or whether we have been defeated.
Its mass production will be done using traditional electronic technology, so it can be easily obtained at an affordable price.
