The Government of Venezuela confirmed that the journalist Roland Carreño, of whom there had been no news for 24 hours and who acts as coordinator of Voluntad Popular (VP), the opposition party Leopoldo López, was arrested.
The Minister of Communications, Freddy Ñañez, explained on his Twitter account that “it was caught ‘red-handed’ and he has confessed his participation in crimes against the constitutional order to alter the peace of the republic “.
However, he did not provide further details about where he was arrestedWhat police force did it or what it was doing to “alter the peace of the republic.”
Quality of missing
Since he disappeared, several voices denounced that the whereabouts of Carreño were unknown, as well as that of two other people, which is why different institutions have described his arrest as a “disappearance”.
Carreño was accompanied by his neighbor Yeferson Aguada and the political leader of VP, Elías Rodriguez, when the three were “approached by black vans without identification,” the so-called interim government led by the opposition said in a brief press release. Juan Guaidó.
They did not know his whereabouts
The same posture has maintained the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) on claiming that after 12 hours, the whereabouts of Carreño or his companions were not known, so they have not been able to verify his current condition or have access to lawyers.
Ñañez, who did not mention Aguada or Rodríguez, considered that these accusations are part of a “campaign to discredit the rule of law in Venezuela regarding the detention “of Carreño, without referring to the 24 hours that the lawyers and relatives have not heard from the prisoner.
