Google Maps wants to improve its services and prepare new useful options for drivers. He also wants to impose himself in front of Waze, an application that also reached Google, but he is also looking to offer safety behind the wheel.
If you are a driver and use Waze or Maps, then you know that there are options that draw your attention to the fact that it is not advisable to type while driving. However, if you are alone in the car, there are situations in which you have to intervene even during the trip. It would be a good idea to shoot right before typing, but not everyone does that.
So Google thought of changing the Maps interface a bit and making it more accessible in such situations. This is a new graphic, which simplifies the use of the guidance service and other applications while driving.
New interface prepared by Google Maps
For now, the new interface is being tested, and Google wants it to be dedicated to use while driving. It is only displayed to a target group of users and has not yet been released globally. It is, in fact, a new design that involves larger buttons, but also guidance to voice assistance functions. At the bottom of the screen are two buttons, one that invokes Google Assistant, for voice commands, and the other for accessing other applications.
The second button, just as visible, sends the user to the menu of applications you want to use in parallel with Google Mpas. There you have voice calls, messages, music and podcasts. This is good news, if you want to listen to music while driving, but you also want to see the configuration of the route prepared by the application.
Google Maps would have a special bar at the bottom of the screen, where the driver can control the playback process – pause, skip 30 seconds and move on to the next song in the playlist. Among YouTube Music or Spotify playback options.
