The pandemic doesn’t seem to be going anywhere too soon. As a result, Google Maps has received a number of improvements to make the lives of those who need to travel easier.
Google Maps is considered by many to be the best navigation solution, no matter where you are on the world map. Much of the user fascination with the Google app comes from updates served at regular intervals.
The most recent of these adds an optional layer of information about Covid-19 over the map you are navigating. Thus, you can see if you are navigating to a region with a higher incidence of the number of detected cases. Depending on Google’s access to this information from around the world, you may also see the number of deaths, in addition to the real-time restrictions and recommendations issued by the authorities. If you feel bad, you will see the locations where you can test yourself.
If you use public transport, such as buses or subways, Maps considers the congestion rate at various times of the day and gives you recommendations in the hope of complying with the rules of social distance.
If you traditionally use Google Maps with your personal car, the new update integrates the Google Assistant virtual assistant into the navigation application, to make commands a little easier without taking your eyes off traffic. Unfortunately, this option is currently only available in English and only in the United States.
If you are still trying to expand in all aspects of your life, the old navigation application has now started to facilitate the delivery of food delivery orders. The feature is available in the US, Canada, Germany, Australia, Brazil and India. In theory, it should reach Romania at some point. As an added benefit, in addition to the fact that you can see the supplier in traffic, to know exactly when it arrives, you can see an estimate of the delivery time before placing the order. If you use this feature often, an in-app history will be saved so you can quickly order something you liked in the past.
