BODØ (VG) Jens Petter Hauge (20) has talked a lot with his friend about what he should do now, how he should choose in the decision about the next step in his career. And the “friend” was in the same situation last autumn – Håkon Evjen (20), who kept Hauge out of the Glimt team …
Last autumn, in Bodø, it was Håkon Evjen everyone was talking about, after a fantastic season that led the technical winger to AZ Alkmaar. Hauge, he was the fewest outside Bodø who had heard of.
Evjen disappeared. The replacement was already in place.
– You can never be sure that you have the right replacement when someone travels. But with Jens Petter we were safe, says Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen to VG.
Now, after at least as good a season as “his friend”, Hauge can tell about “clubs that play in the Champions League and Europa League – and league winners from major football nations” – who have shown interest in him.
That’s how fast it can go in football. A year is a long …
Now it is not the interest that matters, it is the choices Hauge must make – both in terms of type of club and time to travel.
But one thing is for sure, as Hauge admitted to VG on Sunday night:
– It is easier to travel now, when the job is done, than it was this summer. Then I did not feel that the time was right. For this Glimt adventure I wanted to take with me – and now I feel that no matter when I go, whether it is now or after the season, I have contributed so Glimt wins league gold for the first time, says Hauge, where he stands on Aspmyra, tired but happy after another victory – which leads Glimt 18 points ahead of team number two, with 11 games left to play.
– Can someone catch you again?
– No, Hauge answers – cash. He feels completely confident that Glimt will win. Therefore, the thought of going abroad and a bigger club is more tempting than ever, after he has done the “job”, 22 goal points so far. And some impressive matches in Europe.
