The latest tests that the Giro d’Italia riders have undergone at the start of the second week have revealed a serious rebound, with up to eight positives at once.

Two of them are cyclists, who in compliance with the protocol have immediately left the race. One of them is Michael Matthews from Team SunWeb and the other is Steven Kruijswijk, from the Dutch team Jumbo Visma, who did not appear at the start of the stage and also left the race.

The other six cases are from team staff members: one at Ineos Grenadier, one at AG2R, and four at Micheltton-SCOTT. In the latter case, they are not the first infections within the squad, since the leader of the ranks, Simon Yates, He already had to get off the bike after confirming his positive.

These cases have caused the entire team to withdraw from the race, as dictated by the health regulations of the race.
