France confirmed this Friday its record number of new Covid-19 infections, more than 20,000 in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the French Ministry of Health.
Specifically, the French health authorities have verified 20,339 new people infected by the disease in the country, which have raised the global count to 691.977. In addition, 62 people have died from Covid-19 during the day, so France already has 32.583 fatalities due to the pandemic.
In addition, the French Ministry of Health has reported that 4,837 people have been hospitalized this Friday for the coronavirus, 921 of them in resuscitation. Likewise, there are currently 70 departments of the country in situations of high vulnerability.
The situation of the pandemic in the country has forced the Government to “maximum alert” to four other cities in the country starting this Saturday. The decision came after France registered a daily maximum of almost 19,000 cases, a figure lower than that found during this day.
The spike in cases in recent weeks led the government to declare the capital, Paris, as “maximum alert zone”, which meant the closure of bars, gyms and swimming pools in the city and its metropolitan region from Monday and for a period of at least two weeks.
