Next season, Rene Rast will remain as Lucas di Grassi’s team-mate in the Audi factory team in Formula E, but will be playing there on a permanent basis.

The two-time DTM champion successfully passed his baptism of fire in the electric championship, when at the end of last season he replaced the dismissed Daniel Abt at the wheel of an Audi car and had six final races in Berlin. He managed not only to adapt very quickly to a technique unfamiliar to him, but even to climb the podium.

Rene Rast: “The Audi team has been in Formula E since the very first season, they have a lot of experience, great engineers, and all this helped me. They shared with me all their knowledge, and this allowed me to figure out what, how and when to do it.

Plus Lucas always answered my questions whenever I turned to him. Having such an experienced partner is invaluable as he is one of the most successful drivers in Formula E history.

Certainly, racing to Berlin just whetted my appetite and now I look forward to my first full season in the electric series. Performing for Audi in the EV World Championship will be the next chapter of my career. “
