The Spanish capital, Madrid, has been ordered to have a partial rate cut. It takes effect Friday night at 10pm local time. The closure was announced by the district health director Enrique Ruiz Escudero placeholder image at a press conference, according to Reuters.
Travel is prohibited unless it involves going to work or school, health issues, or shopping. In addition, restaurants must close no later than 11 p.m.
Unlike in the spring, however, people are not barred from leaving their homes.
The same actions apply to nine nearby cities. A total of 4.8 million people live in the area. The order on the corona lock has come from the central government, and the local government is issuing the order reluctantly.
Madrid is currently experiencing the worst phase of the second wave of the corona pandemic in Europe. There are currently 859 cases of corona per 100,000 inhabitants. For comparison, it is currently possible to travel to Finland without restriction from countries with a maximum of 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
More coronary infections have been reported in Spain than in any other Western European country. There are almost 32,000 deaths. At present, however, far fewer deaths are recorded every day than in the spring.
The restaurant closure threatens Paris
The French capital, Paris, is also facing a new interest rate cut. French Minister for Health Olivier Véran said Thursday night that the criteria for a corona embargo have been met. He tells about it CNN.
The health authorities will check the situation back on Sunday, and if it hasn’t changed for the better, the rate cut will take effect on Monday.
The criteria for the “highest category alert status” in France are that there are more than 250 infections per 100,000 people, at least 30% of intensive care units are used by coronary patients and there are more than 100 infections per 100,000 population in the elderly.
A crown closure would mean that bars and restaurants would be closed. Meetings of more than ten people are already banned in Paris and the bars should be closed from ten in the evening. In Marseilles in the south of France, restaurants are already closed.
