Dick Advocaat thinks that Steven Berghuis’s injury is not serious. The Feyenoord trainer saw his captain drop out on Sunday in the away match against FC Emmen (2-3 win).

Berghuis was brought down hard after half an hour by FC Emmen defender Nick Bakker, who was booked by referee Björn Kuipers. The Orange-international was visibly in pain and was replaced by Naoufal Bannis.

The experienced coach is therefore hopeful that Berghuis will be available again on Thursday in the Europa League match in De Kuip against CSKA Moscow. “I expect he will be able to play again in two days, so Thursday should certainly be possible.”

When Berghuis got injured, Feyenoord was 1-0 behind Emmen, but in the end the team from Rotterdam won. Mark Diemers (penalty kick) and Jens Toornstra scored on behalf of Feyenoord in the first half and it seemed to stay at 2-2.
Bannis, of all people, made the winning goal for Feyenoord in the 94th minute, which won another match after almost a month. The lawyer was of course delighted with that goal, although he thought that his team should have decided the game earlier. Especially because Emmen played with a man less from the 36th minute after red for Anco Jansen.
