Feyenoord got one point from the Europa League game on Thursday at Dinamo Zagreb: 0-0. Dick Advocaat’s team missed quite a few chances, but had a hard time in the last twenty minutes after a red card for Marcos Senesi.
Feyenoord misses great opportunities
Steven Berghuis missed an early penalty on behalf of Feyenoord, while Bryan Linssen killed a few big chances. In the final phase it was mainly for the Rotterdammers to survive with ten against eleven.
The other match in group K also ended in a draw. Wolfsberger AC and CSKA Moscow came to 1-1 in Austria.

Feyenoord, with midfielder Orkun Kökçü once again in the base as the replacement for the injured Leroy Fer, started very well in the Maksimir Stadium, where around ten thousand spectators were allowed to attend.
In the seventh minute, the team from Rotterdam received a penalty, after Mark Diemers was clumsily knocked down in the penalty area by Kristijan Jakic. Berghuis has already scored three times from a penalty in the Eredivisie this season, but now the captain shot hard and straight through the middle, allowing keeper Dominik Livakovic to save relatively easily.
Even after that disappointment, Feyenoord continued to dominate and the team got the best chances. Linssen, who was again in the forefront, should have scored ten minutes before half-time, but he headed right from close range into the hands of Livakovic. On the other hand, Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow had to intervene well in an attempt by Mario Gavranovic.
In the second half, Feyenoord also initially remained more dangerous, but Linssen also missed his second big chance. In the final phase it still became difficult for Dick Advocaat’s team, because Senesi got yellow within fifteen minutes, the second for a leg that was raised too high.
Dinamo Zagreb went on the hunt for victory with eleven against ten and that resulted in a few dire moments in the penalty area of Feyenoord, but partly due to good goalkeeping work by Bijlow it remained 0-0.
