Trainer Dick Advocaat made no changes to Feyenoord’s line-up for the Rotterdam derby against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday. The experienced coach again chooses Bryan Linssen in the striker in De Kuip.
Mercenary Burger at selection Sparta
Nicolai Jörgensen has recovered from his injury, but he starts on the bench. The other striker in the selection, Robert Bozeník, returned injured this week from the international period with Slovakia.
Two weeks ago, Feyenoord already played with Linssen in the point against Willem II and then, partly due to a goal from the thirty-year-old attacker, it was won 1-4. He is also flanked against Sparta by captain Steven Berghuis and Mark Diemers.
Leory Fer, Jens Toornstra and João Teixeira form the midfield in the derby, putting Orkun Kökçü back on the bench. Bart Nieuwkoop, Uros Spajic, Marcos Senesi and Ridgeciano Haps are the defenders and Justin Bijlow is fit enough to goal. Bijlow recently missed the international matches of the Dutch Juniors due to an injury.
At Sparta, Wouter Burger belongs to the match selection for the first time, but he does not start. The nineteen-year-old midfielder played three weeks ago with Feyenoord against ADO Den Haag, but is rented out to the city rival for the rest of the season.
German attacker Mario Engels, who has come over from SV Sandhausen, does have a basic place and will make his debut for Sparta.
The Rotterdam derby between Feyenoord and Sparta starts on Sunday at 12.15 in De Kuip and is led by referee Kevin Blom. If the home club takes at least one point, it will be the leader in the Eredivisie again, although PSV and Heerenveen will play later this Sunday. They now have as many points as Feyenoord.
