On Thursday, a few days before the transfer deadline, FC Twente had to face a setback. The Enschede team sees defender Xandro Schenk leave for Al Batin from Saudi Arabia.

The 27-year-old Schenk still had a one-year contract with FC Twente. It is not known how much the club will receive for the player who was assured of a starting position and reserve captain in the first three league games of this season.

Schenk, who went through Ajax’s youth academy, came over from Go Ahead Eagles in the summer of 2018. He has since played 39 official matches for FC Twente, scoring two goals.

“Of course I have mixed feelings when leaving, we started well and I have played everything so far. Sometimes, however, something comes your way, of which you think: why not? I wanted to go abroad again and then this is a great opportunity, it is also an adventure “, says Schenk on the website from FC Twente.

“I will join the new team immediately after the weekend. I would like to thank the club and the supporters for the wonderful few years in Twente. In my first year, after the club was relegated, we immediately returned to the Eredivisie. I will not soon forget that we celebrated with the supporters. “

FC Twente has until Monday to get a possible replacement for Schenk. The team of the new trainer Ron Jans has started well in the Eredivisie and is in fourth place with seven points. On Saturday FC Emmen will be the opponent in-house.
