On Wednesday, Facebook announced it would stop showing ads related to political or social issues on U.S. Presidential Election Day, November 3, when the vote closed.

Facebook came up with a solution to reduce the potential for confusion or abuse.

According to representatives of Somejät, all messages announcing the winner prematurely are marked with reliable information provided by the media and election officials.

– If a candidate or party declares a premature victory before the major media reports, we will add more details to the announcements that the count is still pending and the winner has not been determined, Facebook executives said at a news conference.

Facebook has recently come under pressure to prevent the spread of disinformation.
