Facebook moderator farms have become a highly controversial topic, especially after it became apparent that Mark Zuckerberg is willing to sacrifice human lives for the sake of money.

When you report a post on Facebook for various reasons, you would think that in nine out of ten cases it is followed by an artificial intelligence algorithm that sends you an automatic answer. In reality, most of the time, moderators are people who are anyone, because it will be many years before an AI catches all the subtleties, offenses and threats behind some words in a post.

For this reason, a few days ago, a group of moderators employed on Facebook published an open letter which might scare you. The document in question details in detail the macabre way in which one of the largest online companies forces people to come to work in the middle of the pandemic.

“In several offices, multiple cases of Covid were found on each floor. Workers called on Facebook bosses and the heads of subcontractors such as Accenture and CPL to take urgent action to protect and appreciate our work. You refused. We are publishing this letter because you left us without any other option, ”the document said online.

According to the editors of the letter, the reason why Facebook is forcing moderators to go back to the office is because moderation tools based on artificial intelligence are a few years away from being truly effective. “Without informing the public, Facebook has undertaken a massive experiment by aggressively introducing automatic content moderation,” the people behind the document point out. It didn’t take long for them to stop the experiment for the simple fact that it didn’t work.

All in all, respect for the mental health of moderators is non-existent, and Facebook prefers to outsource this important task to avoid possible lawsuits.
