Based on the third free practice and the first and second stages of qualifying, it seemed that Ferrari could even get into Q3 with both cars in the Formula One Eifel Grand Prix time trial – this was only done by Charles Leclerc in the end, but the Monaco took an upscale fourth place, while Sebastian Vettel, though by a hair, dropped out in Q2.
“I suffered in the first sector, but I don’t know the reason, I lost a lot of zigzagging among the others. I felt like we were fine, I was on the border. I couldn’t get any more out of this car, ”Vettel summed up his timer, adding that he wanted to come as far as possible from the 11th start in Sunday’s race.
“Maybe it will be to our advantage that we don’t necessarily have to start on soft tires, but we’ll only get an answer to that tomorrow,” the four-time world champion referred to the possibility of free tire choices.
Asked if he felt better about the car now, he replied, “It’s not that bad, we’re going with maximum downforce. We know that such tracks are better for us, we were in a similar situation at the Hungaroring last time. That’s why I feel we need to be better this weekend. It’s a shame I didn’t make it out of Q2, ”he concluded.
