Charles Leclerc finished eighth and Sebastian Vettel tenth at the Formula 1 Tuscany Grand Prix, which goes into the history books as Ferrari’s 1000th Grand Prix. The Italians could have dreamed of a brighter anniversary, but considering the performance of the SF1000 this year and the development of the last weekends, the double scoring can already be considered a success in Maranello.
“They were just slow, there’s not much to add to that. I tried to get into the best possible position, but we suffered with the car, ”Leclerc assessed the race. “We have to work harder and understand the problems because we haven’t been competitive on the time trial in recent races either, but now it looks like we’ve done a good job of quality, but we’ve struggled at the same time in the race,” he pointed out in his fifth starting position.
Vettel was not incomprehensible in front of Ferrari’s performance, much less in front of the post-red flag standstill rule. “I don’t remember the last time I made so many starts a day. I’m not really a big fan of this rule. If you’re on the right side of the track, it’s a huge advantage, but if you’re on the dirty, I don’t think it’s fair. We should focus on cars and overtaking, not make a lottery out of it all, ”the four-time world champion complained.
Leclerc, who also won two podiums at the start of the season, is only eighth in the individual standings, while Vettel, who is next to Aston Martin next year, is still unable to move from 13th place. Ferrari’s situation in the constructors’ championship is also becoming more and more worrying, AlphaTauri, who is already in the 7th place, is within range, 14 points difference between the two Italian guards.
