After Sergio Perez was forced to miss the two rounds in Silverstone due to a coronavirus infection, their other pilot, the owner’s son, Lance Stroll, was nominated for the Eifel Grand Prix two weeks ago. Like Perez, Stroll was replaced by Nico Hülkenberg.
The team communicated with the competitor who got out before Saturday’s training that the team was simply struggling with malaise, more specifically unable to get up from the toilet, but now Stroll has revealed that he later found out he also had a coronavirus infection.
“I would like to let everyone know that I recently produced a positive coronavirus test after the Eifel Grand Prix weekend. By now, I feel 100 percent, and my test result is also negative, ”the Canadian wrote in a statement.
“I will summarize what happened. I arrived at the Nürburgring with a negative result produced in the usual pre-race test. I started to feel bad on Saturday morning, my belly wasn’t okay. Following the FIA protocol, I remained in voluntary isolation, no longer returning to the paddock. I wasn’t fit to drive, so I also flew home on Sunday morning. Since I wasn’t well even after that, I did another coronavirus test on Sunday night. ”
“The next day, the result was positive, so I stayed home for the next ten days. Fortunately, my symptoms were mild. They tested again this Monday, the result was already negative. I feel great, I can’t wait to be with the team in Portugal again and compete! ”
