Enola Holmes 2: A Review

Enola Holmes, the much-anticipated sequel to the hit film starring Millie Bobby Brown, is finally here. The question on everyone’s mind is: does it live up to the hype? Read on to find out.

Enola Holmes 2 Review: More of the Same, but That’s Not a Bad Thing

The Enola Holmes franchise is back with a second installment, and while it may not break any new ground, it’s still a fun and engaging watch. If you enjoyed the first movie, you’ll definitely enjoy this one as well.

The plot of the movie picks up not long after the events of the first film. Enola (Millie Bobby Brown) is still searching for her mother, Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter), while also trying to avoid capture by her older brothers, Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin). Meanwhile, a new case brings Inspector Lestrade (Adeel Akhtar) to their doorstep, and Enola soon finds herself caught up in another mystery.

As before, the focus is squarely on Enola, and Millie Bobby Brown does a great job in the role. She’s charming and resourceful, and she carries the movie effortlessly. The supporting cast is also excellent, particularly Helena Bonham Carter as Enola’s eccentric mother. Adeel Akhtar also does a great job as Lestrade, adding some much-needed levity to the proceedings.

The movie is visually stunning, with some beautiful cinematography that really makes Victorian England come to life. The action scenes are also well done, and they’re exciting without being too over-the-top.

Enola Holmes 2 is a solid sequel that delivers more of what made the first movie so enjoyable. If you’re a fan of the franchise, you’ll definitely want to check it out.

The Good

Enola Holmes 2 picks up right where the first movie left off, with our titular heroine (played by Millie Bobby Brown) searching for her missing mother (Helena Bonham Carter). The movie is just as fast-paced and action-packed as the first, with Brown once again proving she is more than up to the task of carrying a blockbuster film. The supporting cast is also excellent, with special mention going to Louis Partridge, who steals every scene he’s in as Lord Tewkesbury.

The Bad

While Enola Holmes 2 is a worthy successor to the first film, it does feel a bit like more of the same. There are some new characters and locations, but the overall plot feels very similar to that of the first movie. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean that those who weren’t fans of the first film are unlikely to be won over by this one.
