After Mohamed Elyounoussi was substituted in the embarrassing 1-4 loss to Sparta Prague in the Europa League, the TV cameras caught the national team star using his mobile phone on the bench.
Coach Neil Lennon was confronted with the TV pictures after the match. You can see the situation in the video window at the top of this case.
– It’s best for him that he did not. That’s something I have to deal with, says Lennon to BT Sport after the match.
Former Celtic player Chris Sutton went a little further in his statements. He called the Norwegian wing “selfish” and “selfish”.
– It is totally unacceptable, it is scandalous. Does he care about this at all? Does he care about the club? he asked in the BT Sports studio after the match.
Sutton fired further, saying that if he were manager, he would give two weekly salaries in fines to the Southampton-owned player.
Lennon’s Celtic had a very bad day at work and have only one point in three games in the Europa League.
– It is unacceptable. A lack of will and lack of hunger. As a manager, I have to take responsibility, but the games have to look at themselves as individuals, says Mr. Lennon.
VG has tried to reach Elyounoussi for a comment, but has so far not succeeded.
