The reinforcements continue to flow into Old Trafford on the last day of the transfer window. Uruguayan Edinson Cavani (33) comes for free from PSG.
The striker was without a contract after he did not extend with the French capital club this summer. Manchester United thus avoids paying a transfer fee.
– It is a great honor to be here. I had a conversation with the manager and it increased my desire to wear this great suit, says Cavani in the press release.
The Uruguayan joins Manchester United’s third signing on “Deadline Day”.
– Cavani is like a Viking, like the ones you see in movies, almost like a warrior, Ole Gunnar Solskjær said about the striker in February 2019.
– He is a striker in top, top class, says former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel.
The 27-year-old left-back Alex Telles is already ready for the club.
“Manchester United have been following Alex Telles since 2014. They do not consider Brandon Williams a real challenger to Luke Shaw about the left-back,” said United We Stand editor Andy Mitten on TV 2’s “Deadline Day” broadcast.
The left-back, who in addition to Porto has been to Grêmio, Galatasaray and Inter, will be Solskjær’s second signing in this window. Donny van de Beek has previously been brought in from Ajax.
Later in the evening, Manchester United confirmed that they have also strengthened with the 18-year-old winger Amad Diallo Traoré.
The Ivorian comes from Atalanta, where he made his Serie A debut in October last year. Only four minutes into the debut, he scored his first goal for the club in a 7-1 victory.
