The body of Rural Agents of Barcelona has dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to trafficking in birds of protected species that were poached in Andalusia and later sold in clandestine markets in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
As reported by Rural Agents, the investigation, which began months ago, culminated in a search at a home of Sabadell (Barcelona) where they intervened 260 birds of five different species: 117 goldfinches, 68 finches, 46 greenfinches, 15 linnets and 14 royal finches.
The intervened birds were caged and in blasts located in several rooms of the house, in poor condition, without a municipal activity license or declaration of a zoological nucleus.
In the registry, documentary evidence of economic transactions for bird trafficking and 19,500 euros in cash from this clandestine activity were found.
The Rural Agents already intervened last August 1,214 protected birds that were transported from Andalusia, which allowed the identification of the two alleged traffickers, a seizure that led to the investigation that has led to the dismantling of this network.
