Jon Fetheimer, CEO of Lionsgate, confirmed the making of a new movie “Dirty Dancing” with Jennifer Gray, according to Deadline, quoted by

“It will be exactly the kind of romantic and nostalgic film that franchise fans are waiting for,” he announced.

On the poster will be Jennifer Gray, the singer of the character Frances “Baby” Houseman. The actress will also be a producer.

According to Deadline, Jonathan Levine (“Wackness, 50/50”) will be directing, accompanied by Gillian Bohrer.

The first “Dirty Dancing” movie was released in 1987 by Vestron and grossed $ 218 million at the box office, with production costs of $ 5 million.

The song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Frank Previte, John DeNicola and Donald Markowitz won the Oscars and the Golden Globe in the “original song” category. At the Golden Globes, “Dirty Dancing” was nominated for “comedy / musical”, Patrick Swayze was nominated for “Best Actor in a Comedy / Musical” and Gray was nominated for “Best Actress”.

A remake of “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights” was made in 2004, but with other actors: Diego Luna and Romola Garai.
