Diego Maradona died: Claudio Caniggia’s message to say goodbye to his ‘soul brother’

The former striker was one of the great partners of Ten in the Argentine National Team and at the end of their careers they met again in Boca.

Claudio Paul Caniggia, one of Diego Maradona’s great partners in the Argentine National Team, showed “devastated” for the death of Ten.

“I am devastated by the news, he was my soul brother … I hope you understand, I have no words at the moment. I just want to tell his family that I accompany them in this pain, “the former striker said on Twitter.

Caniggia, 53, formed an unforgettable line of attack with Maradona in the team under Carlos Bilardo and Alfio Basile as technical director.

One of the moments most remembered between the two was Caniggia’s goal, after Diego’s move, in the 1-0 victory over Brazil for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Italy ’90.

The forward and Maradona they met again at the end of their careers in Boca, where they had a “peck” in the remembered celebration of a goal converted by “Pájaro”.

It was in July 1996, when the Xeneize beat River 4-1 in a superclassic held at the Bombonera.

On October 30, the day that Ten turned 60, Caniggia had dedicated a message to him on Twitter: “Diego Armando, what more can I say, is the God of Soccer. I love you friend”.
