The third Rai network modifies its programming to make room in prime time for the documentary on Maradona signed by the same director who told Ayrton Senna and Amy Winehouse.
To honor the memory of Diego Armando Maradona, who died suddenly yesterday of a heart attack, aged only 60, Rai3 decided to broadcast premiered at 21:20 Diego Maradona, the documentary directed by Asif Kapadia dedicated to the strongest soccer player of all time.
The film will take the place of the scheduled broadcast with Massimo Ranieri “Here and Now”.
Directed by Asif Kapadia, who had already signed documentaries on Ayrton Senna e Amy Winehouse, was presented at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, out of competition, obtaining acclaim from the public and critics.
Diego Maradona traces the career of the football player by recounting his years in Naples: years of triumphs but also of falls on a personal level, in which his inspiration and talent have transformed him into a legendary figure, unstoppable on the field, with two championships, a cup Italy, a Uefa Cup, and the World Cup in Mexico in 1986.
All built on archive materials selected from more than 500 hours of videos, edited together with interviews made in the present and present only in voice over, the film by Kapadia (also available in streaming su Netflix) is the one that best of all tells the many human and sporting contradictions of Maradona, and closely scrutinizes the body and soul of a champion loved by the whole world, celebrating both the timeless myth and the controversial man.
