The Brazilian president said that the international press praises his public health policy and positions him as “one of the countries that suffered the least from the pandemic.”
Despite the crisis and the almost 130 thousand deaths, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro assured this Friday that thanks to the policies of his Government the country is “winning“to the coronavirus and that the world’s media consider it to be one of the nations” that suffered the least from the pandemic.
“We are practically defeating the pandemic, the government did everything to minimize the negative effects, “Bolsonaro said during an event in Bahia, in the northwest of the country.
The president referred to “emergency aid (of $ 110) that reached 65 million people”, along with the support provided to governors and mayors “to care for those infected” with Covid-19.
Bolsonaro delivered a speech this Friday morning in the town of Sao Desiderio, in the interior of the state of Bahia.
“We are seeing that it is beginning to appear in the media out there that Brazil is one of the countries that suffered the least from the pandemic due to the measures taken by the government “, remarked the president.
However, Brazil is the second country in the world in number of deaths from coronavirus, with 129,522 victims (according to the Government), and the third in the list of infected with 4,238,446 patients.
