Marcel Brands made a third strike in the transfer markets this week. On Thursday, Everton’s technical chief presented Demarai Gray as his latest addition. Bayer Leverkusen purchased the attacker for approximately two million euros. They also took him from Leicester City in winter for nearly the same amount. Gray has signed a three-year deal with Everton that will end in mid-2024. Gray also has the option of a fourth year.
Gray’s move to Everton is a return to Premier League. Gray previously played for Leicester City from 2016 to 2021. Gray has signed up for Rafa Benitez’s Florida Cup in Orlando, and helped Leicester City win the Premier League title for 2015/16. Gray played for several English youth teams in international matches, from the U-18 to the U-21 levels. He began his career at Birmingham City, scoring 8 goals in 73 games.
Gray stated that he was delighted to be back with such a large club in the Premier League. I can’t wait for the opportunity to work with the team. Marcel Brands and the coach gave me a positive feeling about the club. I feel this is the best place for me to grow. Everything I have heard from Bentez Brands, and the club’s goals and ambitions, is correct. Our main goal should be “to push back to the top and compete.”
Gray hasn’t made an impact at Leverkusen for six months. He was still accurate during his match against VfB Stuttgart. However, after that, Gray had to be content with substituting. Gray is the third member of Bentez’s team this week. Brands previously brought Andros Townsend to Goodison Park, as well as goalkeeper Asmir Begovovic. Townsend was picked up by Crystal Palace on a free transfer, while Begovic was transferred to Bournemouth.
