Debutant Tahith Chong and Davy Klaassen have started the new season in the Bundesliga badly with Werder Bremen. The Bremen club lost 1-4 at home against Hertha BSC.
Werder Bremen, which maintained itself in the Bundesliga through the play-offs last season, already faced a 0-2 deficit at halftime due to goals from Peter Pekarik and Dodi Lukebakio. Daishawn Redan and Karim Rekik stayed on the bench for the entire game. Javairô Dilrosun was missing from the match selection with a thigh injury.
Bas Dost came with Eintracht Frankfurt no further than a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted Armina Bielefeld of Mike van der Hoorn. The number nine of last season faced a deficit after more than fifty minutes of play, after which André Silva put the equalizer on the scoreboard ten minutes later.
Substitute Kingsley Ehizibue also lost with 1. FC Köln 2-3 at the Hoffenheim of bench siters Melayro Bogarde and Joshua Brenet, captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw with FC Augsburg was 1-3 too strong for Sheraldo Becker’s Union Berlin and Freiburg won with 2 -3 at the promoted VfB Stuttgart.
Later on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund will play its first league game of the season. The number two of last year will take on Borussia Mönchengladbach at home at 6.30 pm.
