Ralf Seuntjens gave De Graafschap a last-minute win over Excelsior in the Kitchen Champion Division on Monday evening. The striker signed in Rotterdam just before time for the winning goal: 1-2. Later that evening, Dennis van der Heijden made a world goal on behalf of TOP Oss against FC Dordrecht, which was beaten 2-0.
Van der Heijden scores from about 40 meters
De Graafschap took the lead early against Excelsior via Mohamed Hamdaoui, after which Reuven Niemeijer leveled the score by using a penalty kick. Substitute Seuntjens ensured a Doetinchem victory in the 89th minute.
Excelsior had been on the field with one man less at that time. Shortly after Niemeijer’s equalizing goal, left back Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill received a direct red card for a hard charge.
The 31-year-old Seuntjens made his comeback in Rotterdam after two weeks ago against Jong AZ – who lost no less than 7-3 – an ankle injury. He left the field by stretcher, but the injury turned out to be okay.
With twelve points from five games, De Graafschap is number three in the Kitchen Champion Division behind NAC Breda and Almere City. In the next round of play, NAC will visit Doetinchem.
Bottom of the league TOP Oss recorded an important victory over FC Dordrecht, which is penultimate. The people from Brabant took the lead thanks to Kyvon Leidsman, after which the highlight followed deep in the second half.
Attacker Van der Heijden was knocked slightly over the centerline and was awarded a free kick. He saw the keeper standing in front of his goal, took a shot from about 40 meters and saw the ball land in the goal.
Despite the victory, TOP Oss remains at the bottom of the Kitchen Champion Division. The club has a slightly less goal difference than Dordrecht.
