They have asked a number of experts to rank three favorites to take over the job. Jesper Helmin, former editor-in-chief of the football website Bold.dk, also believes that Knutsen is among the favorites. He actually ranks the Glimt coach at the very top of the list of current candidates.
– He is a different type of football coach, but Kjetil Knutsen stands for an attractive type of football that FC Copenhagen can well see in the direction of now, Helmin believes.
He is the only one of the four experts who has spoken to Danish TV 2, which ranks Knutsen at the very top. The other three have another Elite Series acquaintance at the top, namely former Stømsgodset coach David Nielsen.
Glimt’s general manager Frode Thomassen takes the favorite stamp from the experts with crushing calm.
– It is a natural consequence that he is a great and good coach. We are in the middle of a project to develop Glimt, and that is what we are doing. We are very calm, says Thomassen.
VG has tried to reach Knutsen for a comment, but the coach has not responded to the inquiry.
Nielsen, who according to the experts is the biggest favorite, played in both Brann, Godset and Start, and started his coaching career in Norway.
In recent years, he has delivered the goods in AGF, and taken the club to the top of the league. Last year, they ended up in third place behind winners Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen, with much less resources.
