Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White revealed on Sunday that he will soon face Habib Nurmagmedov to convince him to return to the octagon.
On November 24, the Russian fighters announced their retirement after defeating the American Gaethje. The reigning lightweight champion Nurmagomedov has maintained a perfect 29-0 record during his career.
“Eagle” is only 32 years old, but has completed all the tasks in his sport. However, his father lost COVID-19, which shocked him deeply. He said that he would never want to enter the cage again. Several people, including White, wanted him to wear gloves again.
“As a facilitator, when a person wants to retire, he should let him go. The difference from someone like Khabib is that he has gone through a lot of things. Losing his father is a heavy blow. They do it together, his father Hope he reaches 30-0,” the UFC chairman continued.
“But as a fighting lover, I hope Habib will fight 10 more times.”
White can’t hide that Numagomedov’s return will be a good thing for UFC’s financial situation, especially if there is a rematch with Connor McGregor.
“There is always the argument that when you are in the top position, it is not a bad thing to quit. If we are talking about money, then Habib has more than he needs. White said, he does No need to work anymore, he has the skills to make big money again.
The president does not yet know the date of the meeting with the new retirees, but he promised that once he knows the Russian decision, he will immediately notify the fans.
